Checking Prior Address History

Knowing where your applicant has lived is just as important as knowing where they have been previously employed.

A practice that Backgrounds Online highly recommends is running an Identity Scan on every single job applicant. This allows employers to not only confirm a person’s identity, but also check an applicant’s address history.

Backgrounds Online provides all of its clients with a release of information, which is what gives the employer permission to run the background check from its applicants. On this release form is a place for a seven year address history for the applicant to complete. Employers are encouraged to compare the applicant’s address history with the history reported by the Identity Scan. Should any inconsistencies arise, those can be looked into further. For example, a person might purposefully leave out a place they lived because they are deliberately trying to hide the fact they have criminal records from there.
