Providing Reports to Employees

Providing reports to applicants is a simple and standard procedure done either at the request of the applicant or through compliance with the FCRA.

The Fair Credit Report Act (FCRA) gives applicants and employees access to the background checks conducted on them. Some states, such as California, have employers ask whether or not a copy of the report is requested when the release of information is signed.

If adverse action is taken, a copy of the report must be provided to the applicant along with the contact information of the company who completed the report. Should the applicant be hired, the FCRA does not require the company’s name to be divulged, there is no reason to do so as the employee has the right to request a copy of their report for up to two years after it is run.

Backgrounds Online is happy to provide its’ clients’ applicants with copies of their reports at no charge. Applicants must submit their requests to Backgrounds Online with proper identification for security purposes before reports will be released.

Copies of reports can be provided to your applicants free of charge.
